My Symbol

Symbol

I created this design a while ago just as a doodle but then when the t-shirt project came around I thought it would be a good time to revive it and make it better. I used logo, symbols and symbolism from some of my favourite anime and games to create the design. Originally it was going to be all black but I decided to add the orange o make it pop a little.
Used Anime/Games: Kingdom Hearts, Assassins Creed, Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword Art Online and Gurren Lagann

CatBus

CatBus

I created my CatBus t-shirt design using some iconic characters from the Studio Ghibli films. Using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop to create the different effects I wanted with the end result being just what I had imagined.

Films used: My Neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso, Ponyo, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle and Laputa; Castle in the Sky

Studio Ghibli

Studio Ghibli has been around since 1985 and to this day they are still creating some of the best animated film in history. With the most highly rated animated feature film under there belt its no surprise that there characters have become icons in there own right. With films like Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howls Moving Castle and grave of the Fireflies they have put there names in not only the anime industry but the animation industry from all around the world. The company also has colse ties to Disney who license there films for overseas and the famed co founder/ director of many of the films Hayao Miyazaki just happens to be a good friend of John Lasseter.

More Makoto Shinkai work

Recently I have found some more Imagery from Makoto Shinkai's movies, mainly in the form on landscapes and I just find them breathtaking and almost realistic looking.

Studio Ghibli Influence

I've seen many ideas for Studio Ghibli T-shirts online and even brought one myself. And after looking at some designs I had an idea for one of my own using one of the most iconic characters from their film My Neighbor Totoro, Its the Catbus. Its not only the Catbus that inspires me from Ghibli but the style in general, they create weird and wonderful characters and scenery that even people who have no idea what its from would want it on a T-shirt.
