Studio Ghibli Influence

I've seen many ideas for Studio Ghibli T-shirts online and even brought one myself. And after looking at some designs I had an idea for one of my own using one of the most iconic characters from their film My Neighbor Totoro, Its the Catbus. Its not only the Catbus that inspires me from Ghibli but the style in general, they create weird and wonderful characters and scenery that even people who have no idea what its from would want it on a T-shirt.

Photograms

A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey.

I personally enjoyed this process, it brings out a very interesting effect and it allows you to experiment with different materials to give different effects and make many types of image.

Makoto Shinkai

Recently I have discovered a Japanese Anime movie director called Makoto Shinkai. After watching a film of his called 5 Centimetres per second I was hooked, its not the story which attracts me to his work, it is the stunning visual he creates in his movies.

After his second piece of work/ his first feature length movie he had gained himself the the title of "The Next Miyazaki" by many critics. Anyone familiar with Studio Ghibli will know that Hayao Miyazaki is the great director behind many of their most well know films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and Howls's Moving Castle and also one of the studios founders.

Tour de France Logo

In the Tour de France logo you can see a cyclist made up of the R and the O and orange circle represents the front and back wheel of the bike.

F1 Logo

In the Formula 1 logo the negative space between the F and the red shape that emphasises speed the number 1 can be seen.

The creator of this iconic logo was Carter Wong design, their founders Phil Carter and Phil Wong. They have also redesigned the Cornetto brand and have worked with Waitrose. 

Amazon Logo

The Amazon Logo Features a arrow spanning from the A-Z, It is shaped as a smile to represent customer satisfaction and how there goal is to sell every product from A-Z.

Toblerone Logo

If you look closely at the background of the Toblerone logo, there is the shape of a bear in the mountain, this mountain is the  Matterhorn mountain which symbolises the town where the first bar of Toblerone was made.
